Artshare for Heartshare
November 10, 2016 @ 12:00 pm – November 20, 2016 @ 6:00 pm
November 10, 2016, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
ArtShare for HeartShare is proud to host its eighth exhibition of artwork at Central Booking. Our art is created by HeartShare program participants – children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The artists’ repertoire includes drawings, paintings, collages, photographs, prints and hand-crafted jewelry. Through ArtShare, individuals with developmental disabilities have found personal expression and inclusion in the New York community, which has historically excluded their voice. With the support of lobby space from NYU Tandon School of Engineering, National Grid, and Forest City Ratner Companies, our Brooklyn-based artists are reaching a wider audience within their own community. Additionally, our artists continue to grow in their work due to partnerships with the Museum of Modern Art, Dedalus Foundation and more.
HeartShare Human Services of New York nurtures and empowers children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, such as autism, Down Syndrome and cerebral palsy and supports their families. Established in 1914, HeartShare and its Family of Services has over 100 program sites in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island serving nearly 35,000 New Yorkers annually in disabilities services, foster care and adoption, mental health services and more.
