The pages can be laid out to create a large story. ‘Be Prepared’, explores the Girl Scouts who are celebrating their 100 anniversary. The Girl Scouts were really quite progressive; early on they had badges for “Interperpreter’, “Business Women”, “International Knowledge”, plus good advice if you find yourself lost in the woods. Working as a mixed media artist has allowed me to combine a wide variety of found objects, ephemera, and traditional media in my collage, assemblage and artist books. I love to travel and where ever I go I hunt flea markets and old book shops for items and inspiration. I collect old photographs, tintypes, handwritten letters, odd medical devices, vintage diaries, strange found objects, playthings, boxes of all shapes and sizes, and other curious personal ephemera to use in my work. I work with these found objects and ephemera to create new narratives that explore themes of personal histories, identity, memory, family, humor, secrets, and stories.
