Amanda Dow Thompson sees her intriguing detailed, visceral, hand carved wood sculptures as odes to female strength, perseverance, and capability. Amanda sees these sculptures as a way to explore womanhood, motherhood, and the art of passing along viable facts/realities of being female in a culture that often imposes its own stereotypes or desires onto women both old and young.
