Animal Helpers of the Southwest: A Guide For Young Travelers, 2015

$600.00

Ayudantes Animales del Sudoeste: Un Guía Para Viajeros Jóvenes.

This book is a bestiary of animal powers to help young travelers across the dangerous border crossing of the US Southwest. The twelve woodcut prints represent animals- coyote, prairie dog, armadillo, rattlesnake, pronghorn antelope, and others. Inspired by the tradition of the Zuni stone fetish animals believed to contain beneficial power, the prints are hexagons that represent the traditional six directions of the primary animal fetish powers in Zuni culture – north, west, southeast, above, and below.
