Big Shot, 2024

Sarah Stengle’s artist book “Big Shot” shows images of white men crying fake tears alongside fragments of currency and illustrations of “shot”  for shotguns from various regions involved in WWII era conflict, along with a variety of bullets. The imagery was taken from a 1940s shooting manual. The fake tears represent the disingenuous nonsense about “caring” about the rise of school shootings and mass murders in the United States. Hypocritical “concern” often dominates the discussion and prevents actual solutions.
