Briar Rose Speaks is an artist book that reflects on the immense passivity that girls are encouraged to adopt via childhood fairytales. The brief narrative gives Briar Rose a voice in which she asserts that not only is she tired, but that the weirdo should ASK FIRST!! before kissing her in her sleep. The vibrant rose imagery is by botanist Henry Edland, circa 1962. It is the third Artist Book by Sarah Stengle related to the Briar Rose narrative.
Silkscreen on vintage found rose imagery, half-bound with hand-dyed silk dupioni.
