Existential ID Badges, 2024

A hand-made packaged set of 24 wearable brief idioms about vision, sound, speech and understanding, which arrest the viewer and cause humorous, absurdist anxiety. Each phrase provokes a need to quickly respond, but the double meanings that jump around the space between the viewer, the wearer, and the text make an easy reply impossible. Like all of Rosenthal’s work in text, wall art, camera-based, performance, apparel, and video, this piece brings the viewer into their own “frame of mind”.
