Ceramic sculpture, mixed media stem, wood base.
This piece is a further development of ceramic sculpture begun during the artist’s residency at Brooklyn Botanic Garden (BBG) as part of the Plant Cure Project. The flowers of Pelargonium sidoides are very small, as with many of the “scented geranium” (pelargonium) plants, from which cultivars with larger flower umbrels were developed. The idea to create three-dimensional forms, with the flowers enlarged 5 – 10 times was inspired by the Auzoux plant models in the library at BBG.
