Pau Amma Plays with the Sea references the Rudyard Kipling Just So origin story about crabs, one of Booth’s childhood favorites. Woodcut proofs were used to make the cut paper effect, as well as metallic sumi ink. Theater set design maquettes also inform the piece. The artist grew up on the beaches of South Florida and Texas. Marine life figures prominently in her imagery.
