Pelargonium sidoides, 2019

Watercolor

Created during the artist’s residency at Brooklyn Botanic Garden (BBG) as part of the Plant Cure project, this watercolor was painted by direct observation from a specimen of Pelargonium sidoides, part of a collection of “scented geranium” plants collected during the year of the project. Botanical drawings, watercolors and prints in manuscripts in the rare book collection of the library of the BBG were the source of inspiration for this work. It is painted on a full sheet of Arches 300 lb. watercolor paper, with full deckles, one of a series of four images, each of a different “scented geranium” (pelargonium) plant.
