STONES 1, 2026

$1,750.00

On a white wooden pedestal stands a series of clear bottles filled to 75% of their volume capacity with drinkable water. Stones collected in places where the artist has been, covered with red acrylic industrial paint, lie on top of the lids. The artist’s book H2O is placed in front of the bottle.

Throughout the course of the artist’s existence, they gather new bottles and stones. Stones 1 is the first of a series of installations in which the bottles with red-painted stones will inhabit spaces, occupying them organically like a vine that spreads wherever it finds favorable conditions.

The initiative is a form of grounding. The artist is the result of a diasporic family! They feel like a foreigner wherever they are. The artist’s life of gathering ordinary little stones is a search for the artist to recognize themselves in space and time – a way of inhabiting the world…

Water pollution is responsible for over a million deaths annually. About 1 in 4 people globally lacks access to safe drinking water. Approximately 71% of the Earth’s surface is covered with water. Oceans, seas, lakes, and rivers. Water is the blood of Earth. The human body can be up to 75% water. We are water.
