Title: Robin Holder “One of a Few”
Description: What does it mean to be “One of a Few” and how does that particular status reflect our diverse society and the human experience in our culture? Robin Holder will discuss her development of printmaking techniques that result in “almost unique” works on paper, as well as the autobiographic narratives in her imagery that reflect her unusual bi-racial, interethnic and multi cultured origins. Feel free to participate and share your own experiences as “one of a few.”

Robin Holder’s retrospective, An American Consciousness, will be on view at Spelman College Museum in Atlanta through May 2010. The exhibition catalog, sponsored by the David Driskell Center, can be viewed online. Holder was recently interviewed for the Hatch Billops Artist and Influences Archives and New Times Holler, an internet arts publication. The artist’s work is included in significant collections, including The Library of Congress, The Washington State Arts Commission, The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, Con Edison, Xerox Corporation and Yale University Art. Ms. Holder has completed 7 large scale site specific public art commissions. She received The Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation Artist as Catalyst grant and was awarded an Individual Visual Artist Grant by The Brooklyn Arts Council.
